P90X3 Classic 8 Day 16 Agility X (+ Full Body Circuit at New Gym)

Day One at new gym today before this workout. Agility X stats are below after the gym commentary and calorie stats.

I won’t plug them because the staff is awful. Uneducated salespeople. It’s amazing they can stay open but people like me go there I guess who just want the machine and apparently their business model involves getting a lot of uneducated people to sign up for Personal Training at $180-$500/mo. Incredible. Anyway.

I did 3 circuits of full body machines for about 30mins 1783 – 1908 = 125 calories.

I added circuit weights at the gym today. I needed to burn more calories and thought I’d add more damage as this one is an easy workout… and X3 Yoga is tomorrow.

There is a circuit at the gym although the Sales Guy giving the tour didn’t know it, or what the machines did, but for $10/mo I don’t need him, just the machines.

So I did a circuit that worked all the muscle groups, 10 machines but I only used 9. I think they were (not exactly in this order, if I add this to Monday/Total Synergistics Day, I will come back and outline what they are, I should have taken a picture of the row they were in):

  1. Leg Press
  2. Leg Extension
  3. Leg Curl
  4. Chest Press
  5. Shoulder Press
  6. Lat Pull
  7. Bicep Curls
  8. Seated Tricep Dips
  9. Maybe a Rowing machine
  10. Some weird multifunction machine was the last one, #10. It did crunches which was cool but had instructions for other stuff and I skipped it. I should have kept it for crunches now that I think about it.
  11. So the Agility X stats are:

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 237- end 504 = 267 calories burned which are less calories than 275 last week or the 292 on week 1. Is it good that I’m burning less calories as I progress? Am I adapting and getting more efficient or am I not working as hard?

I was able to do the jumping jacks and other jumping movements without the tearing pain as I may have mentioned before.

I was also able to do Tap the Line more properly and do some much better reps on Jump Squats I think they were so I saw some good progress again on this workout!

16 Days down. 74 to go!!!

Day 90 is a REST day.

Day 91 is the Final Fit Test and After Photos.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 15 Total Synergistics

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 1111 – end 1359 = 248 calories burned.

Oh No! This is the last session for a while as next week is my first transition week.
I also ate WAAY too much WAAY late last night and gained 2lbs for my records making my weight loss over the first 2 weeks 1.2lbs instead of 3.2lbs or more. Hmph.

I added X3 Ab Ripper today. I know it was easy last time. It was NOT this time. I calculated the stats on it before I added it and I burned 87 calories on X3 Ab Ripper by itself, which was a lot harder this time and more than the 57 calories I recorded the first time I did it.

I also did this workout before breakfast but as I right this I’m not as hungry or weak as I was at the end of Total Syngergistics btw. I do need to copy all of this into a Word Doc for myself. But I don’t want to do the effort to put it in Word and edit it for the web. But I might. I complain about my recordkeeping below.

I also meant to say that sometime last week the DVDs became very familiar, as if I just did them yesterday. Time flies.

As you might guess from this blog I’m not really tied into the Beach Body Website and today I logged in to check the SuperCalendar which I knew they were phasing out, and it’s gone! It used to have the dates lined out with the workout for the day! Now I have to update my records by hand again.

My recordkeeping is kililng me but one more pass on my paper notes to get the right dates on the worksheets and stuff and I’ll be OK.

The new BeachBody website is all sales, I want support for 2-3 things and I can’t get it. So my strong recommendation is that the DVDs are good to get you started but then if you want to crank it up, or if you struggle with some of the DVD instructions as I’ve mentioned, get a Personal Trainer and get set up with evaluation and a tracking a system you can use. If I have to start teaching or training again, I expect I will offer something like this myself. But that is several months away at minimum and I’d rather do some other stuff.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 14 Dynamix

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 1043 – end 1155 = 112 calories burned.

My shoulders are sore/weak and painful during the Forearm (side) Plank and far too tight to do the Shoulder Stretch.
Also, my knees prevent me doing the Pigeon so I had to turn that into a static stretch. Again, a trainer with me could tell me if that is a particular issue and how to modify it but at least I know enough to not induce sharp pain in my knees! My knees have carried too much weight for too long I think anyway.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 13 The Warrior

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 2252 – end 2525 = 273 calories burned.

Noticeably, this workout was easier than I expected. It was easy except for hitting muscle failure and missing some reps. Also, some of the jumping is still hard so I’m missing the benefit of the explosive jumps.

I LOVE this workout and I was NOTICEABLY NOT SORE like I was dreading!

I need to put notes in this log about my thoughts on the workout, like what I could/couldn’t do etc but maybe I also don’t need to put that on the Internet.

On my note sheet where I log my stats, I don’t have room for other notes. Maybe I need to reformat it for notes because there are some I need to record. There is space on the bottom of the worksheets for notes, but only 2 workouts in this Block, Total Synergistics and The Challenge.

Off topic, it snowed in Austin, TX today!

My numbers did increase on a few reps this time!

I do need a better Pull-up solution. I need to the alternative bands for the door or get a pull-up assist band. My cousin had a pull up bar installed in his basement, anchored to the ceiling so he could do pull-ups before going to the Coast Guard Academy. In my fist Kenpo school there was a pull-up bar installed into a doorway that was rock solid, pull-ups were part of our class routine. If I had a house, I’d install a solid pull-up bar. If I open a facility, there will be a pull-up bar.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 10 Yoga (X3 Ab Ripper first)

Fitbit calculation for calories burned 35 – 162 = 127 calories burned.

I’ve decided to only post the stat for calories burned which may help me later and may help anyone else who finds this get some idea on how many calories are burned, but there may be too many variables for my calorie burn to mean anything to someone else.

The calorie count is for the combined X3 Ab Ripper and Yoga!

I did do X3 Ab Ripper first before X3 Yoga and I think I will keep it this way. I have scheduled 2 days of X3 Ab Ripper for the rest of the program and I may tweak it if I can figure out where to add X3 Ab Ripper so it can be 3 days per week.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 8 Total Synergistics

Fitbit calculation for calories burned: 1564 – 1877 = 313.

I’ve decided to only post the stat for calories burned which may help me later and may help anyone else who finds this get some idea on how many calories are burned, but there may be too many variables for my calorie burn to mean anything to someone else.

By the way, I did LOVE this workout. It was not hard like I feared. I was not as tight as I thought I’d be. It was invigorating. I need to keep this up. Even a sloppy workout is worth the effort. It is a good 30min baseline, I recall saying that before. A good exercise minimum for a desk jockey.

For posterity… I will also mention here that I lost 1.2lbs according to my scale that is also unreliable because if I weigh myself twice in a row I may gain or lose up to 2lbs. But anyway, it does take measurements… I had hoped to lose 4lbs for the week. Somehow from my weigh-in last Monday to the next morning I gained 2.6lbs and then lost 3.8lbs by today. So maybe I should use the 3.8lb number as my loss for the week? I don’t know.

P90X3 8 Day 7 Dynamix! First Milestone!

First Milestone! 1 WEEK DOWN!

AN EVEN 12 WEEKS TO GO!!!

Day 7 Fitbit readings before and after:
Steps 3319-3688 = 369 Steps, still I wonder how Fitbit counts steps?.
Heart Start 71 – End 94.
Miles 1.5 – 1.67 = .17 miles.
Calories 2225 – 2327= 102. After the workout it reset at midnight apparently and burned several dozen calories before I picked it back up… I didn’t record that. I should have.

There is a side hip raise I can’t do because of my shoulders mostly and a hip pull while on your back that hurts my knees so I didn’t get anything in my hip from it. Again, I would prefer to go through the moves with a Trainer even if as a Primer “OK, here are the tricky moves and how they should be done.” That is an idea for later perhaps.

7 Days down. 83 to go!!!

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 6 The Warrior

Day 6 Fitbit readings before and after:
Steps 14 – 949 = 935 Steps, I wonder how Fitbit counts steps?.
Heart Start 60 – End 97, apparently both my start and cooldown are consistent.
Miles .01 – .43 = .42 miles.
Calories 1002 – 1206 = 204. I don’t know how I burned 1002 calories while my Fitbit was plugged into the computer.

This one is easy to modify, because I hit muscle failure a couple of times on push-ups and you can just sit out a few seconds as needed. I don’t really need to modify anything. I do like the Abrinome but could use a coach on it. I miss my son.

I need to do this without my glasses. They really slow me down on the Sprawls.

Day 91 is the Final Fit Test and After Photos.
That is TECHNICALLY the end of Week 1. Because tomorrow I could rest.
However, I’m close to dropping 3lbs for the week so I’m going to try to add Ab Ripper X and Yoga tonight to burn more calories and help my strained muscles. And then tomorrow, because it is an option, I plan to do Dynamix which I’ve done before and remember thinking I should integrate into the program and not skip.

ADDENDUM

I DID do X3 Ab Ripper AND X3 Yoga albeit at 3:20am and maybe not very well.

But X3 Ab Ripper burned 57 (more) calories and was really easy because I just couldn’t do some of it or some of the reps but the Abrinome I love, and the Speed Cycle is easy to do some of so I think I will add this into every Yoga day and maybe every Saturday also.

I will try to find out where to add it but before Yoga should be fine. Yoga is Wednesday and Saturday makes that 2 days per week and they are spaced out, one with Yoga like I just did and one on the last day of the week when you can technically take the next day off so Wed and Sat seem like good days to add it in.

and

X3 Yoga Burned 79 calories as opposed to 97 calories on Wed but I know I didn’t do as many moves as well as I did on Wed.

This allowed me to eat another serving of Dump Soup and still come in at -115 calories for the day! That doesn’t read well but I came in at negative 115 calories meaning a 115 calorie deficit on MyFitnessPal food diary. MyFitnessPal is great and I should post about it also.

However, the Fitbit apparently reset (probably at midnight) and logged 247 calories when I put it on tonight at 3:15am. I’ll make a post about that by itself.
