P90X3 Classic 8 Day 26 CVX (+X3 Ab Ripper and Gym Pull-Ups and Leg Presses)

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 1055- end 1362 = 307 calories burned.

I want to note that CVX has no warmup routine. It just starts with Press-Jacks which have not “torn” my chest since perhaps Week 2 or maybe sooner. I meant to log that somewhere.

I was STARVING because I mis-managed my morning. I was worried I could not bring it. I did not do it before bed last night because I would have slept-walked through it and wasted the time. So tonight I have to do X3 Yoga without 7hrs sleep in between. I may catch a nap but I doubt it because I’m very awake now!

I brought it!
Used 8lb dumbbell for the whole workout.
Maintained Good Form.
Ended up soaking wet!

I really wish I had video of this workout. Ugh. Maybe soon I will figure out how to get my iPhone or something set on a Tripod and where and how to save the video and maybe even edit it and post a clip or two.

I have to do X3 Yoga tonight without 7hrs sleep in between. But I finished with X3 Ab Ripper. I didn’t do great but logged that I burned 88 calories. I can do most of that routine but I’m not sure for example what C-Y Reach is supposed to feel like or if I’m doing some of the other routines right. Like Tin Man Windmill.

Then tomorrow is Dynamix, the end of Block 1, Pix and Measurements!

ADDENDUM

While I was not getting in any sleep before X3 Yoga… I took my youngest son to the gym and went ahead and did 3 sets on the Assisted Pull Up Machine, using at least 3 grips for at least 2 reps in each set. One set had 4 grips, one had 5, one had 3 reps each for 9 or 12 pull ups and one had 5 reps each for at least 15 pull ups.

Then I went to the Leg Press Machine and did 3 sets of 8 and could feel it so while I didn’t use a lot of weight, it was a good 3 sets of 8 and when I go back to the gym.

I think I’ve confirmed that I will supplement Pull-Ups and Leg work at the gym as my home pull-up method is lacking and I think P90X3 may lack leg development at least leg development I can crush.

On days when we are doing pull-ups or full body I will seek to add X3 Ab Ripper, Pull-ups at the Gym and Legs at the Gym. Because on The Challenge for example, my pull-ups were lame and extra reps on a proper assist machine should be a very good supplement.

If I still had a Total Gym, I could also use that for both Pull-Ups and Legs and I may look into that. I do think a Pull-Up assist band would be good if I had a solid pull-up bar. I am not sure I’d want to use it on the ones you hang on the door frame like I’m using now.

This is difficult. My gut is in the way. I don’t know if Diastasis Recti is also a further complication for me or not but I can not do some of the breathing as he prescribes particularly when it involves sitting up. This is the best example of when I need a coach or trainer beside me to tell me what/how to do the move/breath and/or how to modify it.

I was pretty much ready for this workout. I see I almost burned 100 calories… I also felt great when it was over and I was SOAKING WET much moreso than with Yoga or other workouts where Tony says we should be sweating. So I hope I modified this to be effective but it obviously did not burn a lot of calories for me and I missed most of the breathing so I am also a bit irritated and worried that since he says protecting the spine is a function of the breathing here that maybe I need to skip this or go get someone to take me through it. That’s a though. Hire a trainer to come take me through this routine. That should take about an hour and I’m not sure what it would cost. Not $60 or $80 probably to have them come here. Maybe?

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 425 – end 647 = 222 calories burned.

New routines are hard. I could not do some of these because they were new. He also goes too fast to watch while you are following along, it is hard to crane your neck up to the TV when in Sphinx for example.

I was exhausted but did this routine anyway. Tonight I hope to shift my workout times and make them closer to 24hours apart after 7hrs of sleep. We’ll see. Sunday is Dynamix again, Pix, Measurements and waiting on Santa! Ho, ho, ho!! I may be able to watch a couple of movies Sunday night and fall asleep before midnight. As it’s the end of the week I may add Pilates or Yoga or even P90X Yoga which is 1hr 42mins long as I recall. I think I have the DVDs somewhere still. That would be a good add if I want more Yoga to burn calories or stretch me out.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 23 Dynamix

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 182 – end 315 = 133 calories burned.

Interesting to do Dynamix during the week. I know this week will be different and so I will not add more “damage” by adding more work to the schedule. I will try to get back on track with more sleep. I’m still doing OK sticking to the one workout per “day” but my “days” are shifting later and later.

Left shoulder prevented left side Forearm Plank, but when I saw Tony set up the right one I could go back and do it on the left. Shoulders both sting. A human trainer standing with me would be a great thing.

My shoulders have been bothering me. Like at the joint, deep. Not a surface or muscle pain. Today I could not do Bound Dog and for other reasons I can not do Crane. Now I have more empathy for the ladies in Kenpo who marveled at me doing this when I was a Green Belt in their class at Noon one day as I recall. It was easy then. I also weighed about 40lbs less than I do now.

My notes indicate that I was low on sleep and started later than I wanted. This workout actually happened on Dec 18 at 2:30am and not well before midnight as I had wanted. I’m doing my best and forgetting the rest!

This is also the end of the workout of Block 1. Next week is Transition Week and the end of Block 1!!

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 20 The Warrior

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 520 – end 705 = 185 calories burned.

I’m behind updating this in real time. I wanted to add Total Synergistics but didn’t. I think I was starting to be sleep deprived and cut it out and limped through it and that is why I burned 185 calories but my notes aren’t clear on that. It is something I may have intended to add had I updated in real time but that fell off on Dec 16 or 15 or 14….

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 18 The Challenge

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, start 267 – end 485 = 218 calories burned.

I crashed and slept before I got to this workout so it threw my system off for the first time making this workout happen on 12.15.17 instead of 12.14.17, but I will sleep and then do Day 19 “tomorrow” and log this as if it happened on the 14th.

I also waited 6 or 7 days to post this and I see my logs are off. I fell very behind on updating these daily in favor of getting the workouts done and logging later. Now today as I log this (Dec 21, 2017) I have forgotten any mental notes about the schedule and I’m catching up these logs from my paper logs where my stats and notes come from. Sunday Dec 24, 2017 ends Block 1 and I need to do pix and measurements that day and I hope to be on track properly then. I’m also very low on sleep today and will workout very, very tired for the first time. I hope to fix this by tomorrow and get straight. If I were not self-employed I would not be able to catch up but if I were not self-employed I may not have the scheduling issues that put me off schedule either. Hmmm.

Numbers were 8 and 8 as the previous 2 weeks however this time I did 16 and 10, 16 pullups being assisted with a footstool instead of a jump as before. I think this is better for my shoulders and a bit more scientific…

I did do 3 sets on the Burnout round as well. This was a noticeably improved/stronger workout I think. I did sets of 10 push ups and my notes indicate the last ones were often HARD but I did 10 good ones. That is 80 total push ups if you are wondering.

P90X3 Classic 8 Day 17 X3 Yoga (+ X3 Ab Ripper)

Fitbit calculation for calories burned, OOPs. I forgot about this but my workout started too close to midnight and my Fitbit reset so I don’t have any accurate stats. I know I burned at least 40 calories on Yoga however as that was the reading. I don’t know how many I burned prior to midnight and of course I’m not sure how accurately Fitbit counts the calories anyway so there’s that.

Also, I can go a lot lower on Child’s pose for X3 Yoga which is actually how X3 Ab Ripper ends. And I did the Hip Drop Twist with the weight, did them all pretty well and with a 5lb dumbell! And I did the C-Y Reach better than before and really felt it in my obliques.

Since I did do X3 Ab Ripper first, I did calculate that I burned 63 calories on X3 Ab Ripper which was an increase from 57 in week 1 and 50 in week 2. So luckily I captured those stats before midnight.

Generally speaking, everything is getting easier to do but harder as I’m doing it better and feeling it more. Sounds strange I know.

I wondered yesterday if burning less calories as I progress was good or bad but I’m happy to see that I burned more calories this time because I need to burn as many as I can of course.
